 ABOUT THE GROUP:

Bireun Seudati- Universitas Pelita Harapan become the place for youth to share their idea about art, tradition and cultural heritage. They invite choreographers, art directors, curators, and other experts to look for the best and qualified folklore group around Indonesia, based on youth.

They present us a dance troupe:

University of Pelita Harapan Dance troupe is professional dance organization under destination of University Pelita Harapan. Formed in 2005 the group had attend many international level of festival around the world start from France and Belgium in 2005, get along to Germany, Poland and their previous program in 19th International Folklore Festival in Varna Bulgaria.

Their music and dance demonstrates Indonesia´s cultural diversity, since the 17,508 islands has its own cultural and artistic history and character.
This results in hundreds of different forms of music, which often accompanies dance and theater. The musics of Java, Sumatra, Bali, Flores and other islands have been documented and recorded, and research by Indonesian and international scholars is ongoing.

CURIOSITIES:

Indonesia has 33 provinces and three hundred ethnic group, each with their own costume variations. Traditional costum is usually used for wedding ceremony, traditional ceremony, and other festivities.
Given the broad diversity of ethnic groups in Indonesia, it stands to reason that wedding customs will reflect this diversity.
Each ethnic group has different wedding dress and different marriage ceremonies and customs. Within ethnic group, those of different religious background will have different practices as well.

Traditional dress is still commonly seen in rural areas and is especially important throughout Indonesia for national ceremonial occasions. For both men and women traditional dress in Indonesia includes a wrap around lower – body cover , a kain (a rectangular length of fabric, generally in Batik) or Sarung (a length of fabric with ends sewn together, more often in ikat).

Each ethic group in Indonesia has their own traditional costumes. And since there are many different ethnic groups in one province, you will sometime see two or more different costumes.

This spring, the barmen at the buzzing bar at The Oitavos share their expert tips on how to create a delicious cocktail (inspired by the far-reaching views of the Atlantic Ocean surrounding the hotel) and mocktail to bring a taste of summer to your own home.

Oitavos Black Wojito
o Flavoured vodka
o 4cl Rum
o 2cl of blueberry pulp
o 3 or 3 spoons of sugar
o 1 lime
o 3 or 4 mint leaves
o Soda water

Begin by mixing the juice of the lime with the sugar and mint.
Next, add the blueberry pulp, rum and ice.
To finish, shake and pour in to a cocktail glass. Top this up with soda to taste and decorate with a sprig of fresh mint and ENJOY!

Oitavos Virgin Strawberry Colada
o 4cl of coconut cream
o Pineapple juice
o 4 cl of strawberry pulp
o Crushed Ice

Place the strawberry pulp and the coconut cream in a cocktail glass. Add in crushed ice and fill to the brim with the pineapple juice. Decorate with a fresh strawberry and a slice of pineapple and imagine you are at The Oitavos!.
