The Quinta da Marinha Equestrian Centre is today considered one of the largest and best equipped centres in the Iberian Peninsula. With a history that goes back to 1924 when a horse-racing track and grandstand were built, its facilities have been continually improved over subsequent decades. There are now 230 stables occupied mainly by horses kept for jumping, dressage and riding. It has a wide variety of facilities including:

• Paddocks
• Outdoor riding schools (jumping and dressage)
• Large areas for hacking
• Riding school
• Equipment shop
• Bar / Restaurant
• Hippodrome of about 50,000 square metrres with a grandstand for spectators
• Race track around the hippodrome
